GIRFT and Model Health System

Model Health System (formerly Model Hospital) is a digital information service designed to help NHS providers improve their productivity and efficiency. GIRFT is working in partnership with the Model Health System team to include GIRFT metrics on the portal, providing valuable insight to helps trusts improve their performance.

NHS staff can sign up with their trust email address at and can view data relating to the performance of their trust. Register for Model Health System or log in by clicking here.

Many of the GIRFT programme’s specialty workstreams now have a selection of GIRFT metrics available to view on the Model Health System platform. Users are able to drill down into each metric in more detail to understand where improvements can be made. GIRFT data is available for the following specialties:

  • Cardiothoracic

Model Health System can be accessed by anyone who works within NHS trusts, from board to ward, as well as arm’s length bodies. Each GIRFT metric has the methodology used for calculation included.

In August 2021, Model Health System hosted a masterclass webinar on understanding and navigating GIRFT metrics on the MHS. A recording of the masterclass is available here (you will need to log in to the Model Health System to view). A summary of questions and answers from the webinar can be found here.
